Bastar box office collection day 3: Adah Sharma's film barely crosses Rs 2 cr mark in first weekend, lags far behind The Kerala Story

Bastar box office collection day 3: Adah Sharma and Sudipto Sen film showed slight improvement after dismal Rs 40 lakh earning on day 1, but it pales in comparison to the box office performance of their previous film The Kerala Story.

In an attempt to replicate the box office success of their previous collaboration, The Kerala Story, actor Adah Sharma and filmmaker Sudipto Sen joined forces once again for Bastar: The Naxal Story. While The Kerala Story was criticized for its propagandist elements despite its moderate success, Bastar: The Naxal Story seems to be struggling on both fronts.

The film had a lackluster start at the box office, managing to earn only Rs 40 lakh on its opening day, as reported by Sacnilk. However, it showed a slight improvement over the weekend. Saturday witnessed an 87.50 percent increase in collections, with earnings reaching Rs 75 lakh. This upward trend continued on Sunday, with the film grossing Rs 90 lakh, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 2.05 crore. On Sunday, the film recorded an overall 14.38 percent Hindi occupancy. While the weekend showed some promise, the crucial test will come on Monday, which will determine the film's fate.

Bastar: The Naxal Story pales in comparison to the box office performance of The Kerala Story. In its first three days, The Kerala Story had amassed Rs 35.33 crores, a figure that dwarfs Bastar: The Naxal Story's Rs 2.05 crore.

Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express, in her review of Bastar: The Naxal Story, commented, "To expect any kind of nuance from the makers of The Kerala Story would have been a stretch. Bastar is more of the same. When IPS officer Neerja Madhavan's (Sharma) thunders that she wants to shoot all 'these left liberals', she means everyone of similar persuasion. The film is clear about everyone it wants to paint pitch-black."

The film also stars Indira Tiwari, Vijay Krishna, Shilpa Shukla, and Yashpal Sharma in key roles.
