DIRECTOR: Amir Mohiuddin
Synopsis: Rangreza, directed by Aamir Mohiuddin is based on exploring the contrast between classic qawwali and modern pop music. Rangreza highlights the importance of music culture amongst Pakistanis.
Gohar Rasheed is depicted in the role of an intense dholak player, which is substantially different to the character undertaken by Bilal Ashraf, who embodies a hero persona. Urwa Hocane’s character, Reshmi, is a kind-hearted, soulful, beautiful girl with a traditional outlook.
This musical film also targets the issue of societal imbalance; the rich becoming richer and the poor becoming poorer, in a humorous, non-preachy manner through emphasis on the love triangle being portrayed by strong characters which mediates the musical contrast.
The upsurging and intertwining romance between the main leads and the music fusion is the base of this musical romance.
